Q: How Do You Flood Test a Curbless Shower?

I have noticed a number of people Key Word Searching "How To Flood Test A Curbless Shower" on my blog site and thought I would post my current project under flood test right now here in Vancouver. This job is out on Burnaby Mountain and is part of a whole home renovation.
I was called out because the first attempt at building this shower failed flood testing. I came up with this design based on the current conditions and made some framing upgrades and got permission from the City of Burnaby's plumbing department before proceeding.
I had to leave the cities Plumbing Department with the "Certificate of Listing" on Aqua Defense and after a 5 minute review of the procedure was given the thumb's up to proceed as planned.
The inspector wanted the complete drain and wetzone under water so I built a temporary dam with an off cut of MDF.
I braced this with two of cuts of Hardie Board and weighted those with two boxes of Synko Drywall Mud. The blue and white product is made by Mapei and designed to reinforce seams and corners - it was a breeze to install.

I used a second piece outside the shower to showcase how to flood out the entire room if the rest of the bathroom is built like the shower pan.
I will be installing a Wedge Wire Linear Drain (My Shower Grate Shop) in this channel and the door(s) will be hinged over the center of the drain.
Inspection is called for Monday. Lets see if it holds water!
