There are many ways to build a shower - some
good, some bad but when designing a barrier free shower or installing a linear
drain on a project a solid understanding of the local building codes and
industry guidelines is needed. It
is for this reason that John is a member of the TTMAC ( Terrazzo Tile &
Marble Association of Canada), ASTM (American
Society for Testing and Materials) and NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association).
John’s passion for barrier free showers and
linear shower drains came to him while traveling abroad with his wife in Greece
and Turkey. The practical design
and clean look was so appealing that John started incorporated those European
looks into his Canadian renovations.
When John is not building showers he can be
found working on his North Vancouver home renovation (although his wife might
debate this point) or out coaching soccer with his daughters. John spends a lot of his spare time
answering questions online and guiding his peers and home owners into “Best
Work Practices” in the hopes of improving the industry as a whole and by doing
so reducing waste in our local landfills.
Here are some current testimonials from
people in the industry;
“We use John Whipple for all our
shower preparations. In the past our plumbers would do this job but they didn't
have the care and attention that John applies. The latest in drain and
waterproofing technologies are what John brings to the table. Always does a
great Job. “ - Darren Werner (Owner Werner Construction Ltd.)
“John is very passionate about his craft and it shows in his
work and in his dealings with others. I consider him to be the linear drain Guru.
He's the first guy I call when planning a linear drain project. It's great to
be able to get advice from a fellow contractor who has done extensive hands on
research with these new products.
I can tell by the excitement in his
voice that he loves what he does. Thanks John.” – Mark Christensen (Owner
Tarkus Tile)
